Beth Trier
Managing Director

Beth Trier is Managing Director at Trier and Company, focusing on strategic positioning, brand strategy and new business development. Beth has more than 20 years of experience in strategic communications, specifically dealing with technology, both start-ups and established enterprises. Beth’s area of expertise within the technology sector includes: enterprise software, financial services, mobile, local search, Web 2.0 and consumer technologies.

Beth started Trier and Company in 2001 with the vision to build a communications agency that would break new ground in technology markets, employment practices and client service. Today, she continues to guide the firm’s evergreen mission and values, overseeing operations, business strategy and development, and providing counsel to clients.

Beth has served as a Board Member on the Council of PR Firms (www.prfirms.org), Silicon Valley Marketing Association (www.svma.org), and is frequent speaker at technology and marketing industry conferences around the country. Beth has been consistently recognized by PR Week, Holmes Report and Inside PR as one of the PR industry’s most successful entrepreneurs and innovators.

Prior to Trier and Company, Beth was Director in the Technology Practice for Burson-Marsteller, the world’s largest public relations agency. She was client leader for AltaVista, BEA Systems/Weblogic, Xerox (Document Software Group), DigitalThink, Documentum, Agilent, and Sun Microsystems International. At Burson, She played a lead role in developing the agency’s new business initiatives in Silicon Valley, growing the Emerging Technology Group from 2 team members to a group of 13 and generating yearly revenues at 3.5M. Before joining Burson, she was Senior Account Supervisor at Lois Paul & Partners, a leading public relations firm specializing solely in technology. Clients included such Fortune 100 companies as Sybase, Powersoft, Lotus, Hypercom Corporation, Shiva, Tivoli and SMART Technologies. She was responsible for driving the global corporate positioning and product launches for several start-ups including OMNIS Software, iChat Technologies and DASCOM.

Additionally, she handled the opening and staffing of three new satellite offices for Lois Paul & Partners in Asia Pacific (Singapore) and Europe (London and Brussels). Prior to working with public relations agencies, she spent several years as a media relations consultant to various technology and financial companies, responsible for products launches of such products as Apple’s ‘Open Doc’, ‘Claris’ ‘E-Mailer’ and Schwab’s ‘Street Smart’.

From 1979-1987, Ms. Trier was an editor at the San Francisco Chronicle (www.sfgate.com)
covering the retail business market, both domestically and internationally.

 

David Baily
Investor Relations Consultant

Formerly a stockbroker with Merrill Lynch, David is a well-known investor relation professional exclusively for technology companies. His area of expertise is investor relations marketing, investor relations communications and crisis communications.

With such clients as PeopleSoft, SAP and Logica, David brings a global approach to IR to Trier and Company. In the days of the dot com, when IPO’s were as ordinary as a morning latte, he worked with emerging technology companies including Mediaplex, Digital Think, CMGI, Roadhouse and Mastermind. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Stanford and Masters of Business from UC Berkeley.

 

Pamela Herman
Account Director, Consumer and Vertical Media

Pamela is Trier and Company’s go-getter in the areas of local search and consumer technologies. Her work with NearbyNow, Westfield Shopping Centers, Mypet.com and others has enabled her to make noise for our clients.

Prior to Trier and Company, she was an account director at Reichert Communications in San Francisco, where she helped launch start-up companies such as Pivia Software, MetaLINCS and BackDRAFT into public realm. Other clients include Actuate Corporation, Accovia, Inc., Enterprise Ireland and Valista.

Formerly an account executive at Phase Two Strategies, she played a vital role on the PeopleSoft team and helped launch PeopleSoft 8. Other clients included Candle Corporation, iVendor and Matrix Semiconductor. Pam began her PR career at i.e. communications, a public policy and media advocacy consulting firm working with Planned Parenthood, The California Wellness Foundation, United Airlines and California Proposition 10 (Children and Families Act of 1998). Pam has completed extensive course work in Communications, Radio & Television Newswriting and Multimedia News.

Pamela holds a B.A. degree in Political Science from the University of Colorado at Boulder.

 

Stacy Hollingsworth
Sr. Director – Integrated Marketing

Stacy Hollingsworth offers more than 20 years experience driving the development and execution of integrated marketing programs for leading tech, media and Fortune 100 companies. She works with Trier and Company’s clients to merge great PR, marketing communications and brand strategies to build and sustain market leadership.

Stacy successfully creates and drives traditional and ‘new’ marketing programs to bring brands to life, impact revenues, and reach targeted audiences. Her experience creating, managing, and executing pure marketing programs makes her a ‘jack of all marketing’ – from knowing what it takes, how to make it happen, and how to track it and make sure it is working, her approach to marketing is holistic and integrated. She creates brand strategy, identity and noise to reach and impact key audiences through targeted messaging, advertising, promotions, partner and sponsorship programs, PR, web programs and events.

Stacy’s clients have included HP, IBM, Microsoft, E*Trade Financial, Lucasfilm, Johnson & Johnson, Shutterfly, Sunset Publishing, and IBM – as well as many startups with Web 1.0, 2.0, and 3.0 business models. Since 1990, she has worked in Silicon Valley at marketing and PR agencies, in-house at Fortune 500 companies, running a top 100 Tech PR firm, and leading her own marketing services agency for 12+ years.

Stacy holds a bachelor’s degree in Marine Biology from Scripps College at the University of California, San Diego. Her marketing education comes from first-hand, real-world experience.

 

Duffy Jennings
Senior Vice President – Consumer Technology

Duffy Jennings has compiled a distinguished career as a nationally recognized corporate communications executive, public relations consultant, journalist and freelance writer. He has worked with companies and clients in technology, e-commerce, consumer products and services, public policy, leisure, hospitality, sports, travel, and entertainment.

Through his corporate background as the senior communications executive for two Silicon Valley public policy organizations, a startup incubator, and a public e-commerce venture, together with his inside experience as a daily newspaper reporter and editor, Duffy’s expertise has increased brand awareness, growth and revenue for dozens of clients since 1993. Among them are PowerReviews, VendorRate, Joint Venture: Silicon Valley Network and the Tech Museum of Innovation.

Duffy previously served as vice president of strategic communications for the Silicon Valley Leadership Group, vice president of corporate communications for internet retailer Fogdog, and vice president of public relations for the San Francisco Giants. He was also a prize-winning reporter, editor and City Hall bureau chief for the San Francisco Chronicle and has been a freelance writer, public speaker, speechwriter and journalism instructor.

Duffy has appeared extensively on the national media – in connection with his own work and on behalf of his clients and companies – including CNN, ESPN, NBC, CBS, ABC, FOX, the Travel Channel, the Discovery Channel and the History Channel. Veteran actor Adam Goldberg portrayed Duffy’s character in the 2007 feature film, “Zodiac.” In addition to The Chronicle, his freelance writing has appeared in San Francisco Magazine, Rolling Stone, San Jose Magazine and the book Great Crimes of San Francisco.

Duffy belongs to the Silicon Valley chapter of the Public Relations Society of America, serving as master of ceremonies for its annual “Media Predicts” event. A native San Franciscan, Duffy earned his BA in print and online journalism from San Francisco State University.

 

Alicia Nieva-Woodgate
Vice President – Media Relations

Alicia is the ultimate corporate communications professional. She has applied her creative energy, get-it-done style and knack for problem solving to Trier and Company since 2007 and is a key player in the agency’s success.

Prior to Trier and Company, she was director of corporate communications for Opsware Inc. (NASDAQ: OPSW), located in Silicon Valley. There, she oversaw all aspects of the company’s international public relations, media relations, analyst relations, and customer reference programs.

Alicia, or Lish as we call her, joined Opsware from Mediabolic, a digital home entertainment middleware provider, where she was acting director of corporate communications. Prior to Mediabolic she spent four years as a strategic communications consultant, and a freelance writer, published in Teen Magazine and Sports Illustrated for Women.

Alicia was a director for Phase Two Strategies’ B2B services. There she headed up such accounts as PeopleSoft and Intraspect. She joined the agency from buzz Divine, a divine interVentures Company, where she was part of the media relations team and oversaw International PR.

Alicia began her PR career at Crosby Securities, Inc., in New York City as Manager of Media Relations and Marketing. Before working in PR, she spent six years at various other Wall Street firms, including Drexel, Burnham & Lambert; Kidder, Peabody & Co. and Banco de Investimento Garantia, now part of CSFB.

Alicia has a B.A. degree in History from Fordham University.

 

Amy Rosenthal
Division Director – Analyst Relations

Amy has over 15 years of product management and corporate communications experience in the technology, telecommunications and financial sectors. She joined Trier and Company in 2005 and quite simply put – she’s our voice of reason.

Amy’s focus has been working to build and maintain strong industry analyst relationships with all types and sizes of companies – particularly pre-revenue venture backed start-ups. She works to develop plans designed to help communicate corporate and product strategies to the industry analyst community, driving positive and insightful recommendations, as well as positive reports, research, sales leads and comments to the press.

Prior to joining Trier and Company, Amy worked for Lois Paul & Partners, a leading public relations firm specializing solely in technology, as an Account Supervisor. She worked primarily on Fortune 100 companies including the Sybase and Lotus accounts. She also worked for several start-ups on positioning and product launches. Her experience there included researching and developing public relations plans, managing editorial calendars and budgets, client and analyst tours; as well as writing press.

Prior to this she was a Marketing Manager for Mysoftware Company, GTE, Continental Cablevision and Prudential Asset Management Company. This experience included all facets of the planning, development and tactical implementation of product and marketing communications programs.

Amy holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Southern California and a Bachelors degree in Industrial Psychology from San Diego State University.

 

Lauren Karp
Vice President – Digital Communications

Lauren is passionate about communications. Her high-energy approach is a mix of strategy, creativity, leadership and business acumen that yields significant results toward meeting business objectives.

For more than twenty years and spanning two coasts, Lauren has been a technology public relations practitioner working with start-ups, corporations and the world’s leading PR agencies. Lauren was an Internet pioneer, having immersed herself in emerging technologies with new media companies over the past ten years. She has particular expertise working with online video, advertising and digital entertainment companies including: Demand Media, Exponential Interactive (Tribal Fusion), Adap.TV, Pixsy and Stylit.TV.

Prior to consulting, Lauren ran a global corporate communications team for Roxio and was responsible for the company’s industry-leading digital media software, as well as the launch of Napster as a legal digital music service.

Her agency experience includes leadership roles at Burson-Marsteller, Fleishman-Hillard and Bozell PR (now Weber-Shandwick), where she represented marquis technology brands, including: Sun Microsystems, SGI, IBM, HP and Pacific Bell.

Lauren has a record of excellence in brand development, corporate reputation, crisis communications, international development, investor relations, event planning, executive training, and strategic media/analyst relations. She has deep relationships with key industry influencers and reporters at all of the major business and advertising media outlets.

Lauren holds a Bachelor of Arts degree with a dual major in Business and Communications from George Washington University.

 

Dana Dye
Senior Director – B2B Media and Industry Influencers

Over the last 15 years, Dana Dye has provided marketing and communications counsel to a broad array of technology companies — from emerging startups to global industry leaders. She is a well- rounded practitioner, using her expertise in corporate and product PR, exceptional writing ability and penchant for creative program execution to deliver outstanding results for her clients.

Dana has led global media and industry analyst relations for Genesys Telecommunications Laboratories, a customer service software subsidiary of Alcatel. Before Genesys, Dana was director of public relations for Quintus Corp., where she spearheaded the development of new company positioning and was responsible for increasing visibility of the company’s CRM and contact center software.

Earlier in her career, Dana worked in the technology practice of Padilla Speer Beardsley
Public Relations, leading efforts on behalf of Microsoft, Iomega and Rockwell
Automation, and was a regional marketing communications manager for Sprint PCS during the introduction of its nationwide service.

Dana holds a B.A. in English from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. She is a
Knowledge Capital Group Certified Industry Analyst Relations Professional.

 

Robbi Peele
Senior Director – Media Relations

Robbi is an Emmy award winning communications and PR professional with an unbeatable track record for getting stories placed in broadcast, print and online, including CNBC, ABC News, ESPN.com, The New York Times, Click Z, AdAge and Scientific American Mind.

Besides communications, Robbi has worked for two decades as a broadcast journalist at both the local and national levels with specialties in investigative, health/science and consumer beats. She effectively translates her skills as a journalist to media training, crisis management, corporate video production and story placement.

Robbi holds a BA in French Literature from Columbia University in New York City.
